Reid Coolsaet is one of Canada's top middle and long distance runners of the last 5 years and has represented Canada on multiple national teams including a World Championship team 2 years ago. Reid has run personal bests in the 1500m (3:40), 5000m (13:21) and 10000m (27:56) this year. Athletics Canada recently announced the National Team for the World Championships in Osaka this year and Reid was left off the team because of unreasonable standards and qualifying periods set out by Athletics Canada. The Zone 91.3 Esquimalt 8k
The 3rd annual Esquimalt 8k took place today in..well, Esquimalt. The race saw record numbers this year with 271 participants and the weather was fantastic for a sunday morning run. Eric Kiauka took top honours in the mens race winning a three way sprint to the finish in a time of 24:30. Cheryl Murphy was the top women overall breaking last years course record by over a minute to win in 28:50.
