Wurtele's Featured in the Goldstream Gazette

Local triathletes, Heather and Trevor Wurtele, were featured in the Goldstream Gazette this morning. Heather and Trevor are fresh off the Boise 70.3 Half-Ironman where Heather finished 3rd overall and Trevor finished 9th overall in the womens and mens pro divisions. Frontrunners Westshore has proud to support Heather and Trevor for the past season and wish them the best of luck in their next race, The Lake Stevens 70.3 Half-Ironman. Oak Bay 'Kool' Half-Marathon

The 4th Annual Oak Bay 'Kool' Half-Marathon recorded a record crowd of 543 finishers plus 41 relay teams take part in this beautiful waterfront half-marathon through the streets of Oak Bay. Jim Finlayson came out on top this morning for his third win (1:08:03) on this course. Todd Howard held strong in second place (1:08:18) and Steve Murenbeeld ran in for third (1:12:21) after spending all morning setting up the course. On the womens side, Masters runner, Angela Plamondon, pulled away from the lead group of women for the overall and masters win (1:29:48). Charlene Waldner held onto a small lead for 2nd place (1:31:12) overall and Emily Solsberg of the Ceevacs Running Club ran a strong third (1:31:28).

Lance Hurrell Named to Nathan Canada Team
|
Frontrunners Westshore Run Club member, Lance Hurrell, was recently selected to the ten person Nathan Canada Team. Nathan Hyrdation in partnership with Pearl Izumi, Gu Gels, and Triathlon Canada magazine have been searching since the new year for ten Canadians that have been redefining their 'humanly possible'. Lance is one of two selected from B.C. who will receive support from the team sponsors in the form of product and race entries. Lance is currently training for the Subaru Ironman Canada in August of this year and will be featured on CHEK TV in the near future as they do a spot on all that Lance has achieved in the past two years since he took up running with us in January of 2006.

GutBuster 002: Mt Tzouhalem Recap

Race #2 in the Frontrunners GutBuster Trail Running Series presented by The North Face took place this past sunday on arguably the best day we've had this year. The Mt Tzouhalem GutBuster offers 5km and 12km course options and is the oldest running GutBuster in the series with this being its 8th season. It is also widely regarded as the most challenging in the series with an elevation gain of almost 1500ft in the first 5km of the run.
