GutBuster 002::Colliery Dam Recap
Blue skies and warm weather again greeted almost 200 runners who took part in Race #2 of the Frontrunners GutBuster Trail Running Series. Runners had the choice of either a Half-Marathon long course event or a 11km short course event at Colliery Dam in Nanaimo which was a new venue for the GutBuster Series.
The 9th season of the Frontrunners GutBuster Trail Running Series kicked off this past weekend at Mt Tzouhalem in Duncan. Race #1 in this 5 race series attracted 154 finishers on this tough mountain course. Race #2 takes place on May 31st at Colliery Dam in Nanaimo.
This running event memorializes Mr. Gavin Fletcher who died at too young an age. He was a well known sports columnist, a member of ROC, a husband and father.
His family values were paramount but his love of good fun competition in sports was unequalled. It is with this intent that we fashion The Fletcher's Challenge, held each year on Good Friday open to both runners and walkers.
Frontrunners has won the 2008 Readers’ Choice Award for Best Running Club in the Western Canada division, and the Best Place to Buy Shoes in Western Canada.
The Frontrunners GutBuster Trail Running Series also won the award for the Best Trail Running Series in Western Canada.
Each year Get Out There Magazine readers vote in a Readers’ Choice Awards for their favourite people, places, products and businesses that make active living in Canada so great.
Nick and I would like to congratulate everyone from our run group for making this happen and for making our coaching jobs so much fun!
