The New Balance Half-Iron took place this weekend at Elk/Beaver Lake. This year saw almost 600 participants take part in the 8th year of the event which also attracts hundreds of spectators who create a great atmosphere around the finish line/transition area. Jonathon Caron of Penticton won the mens race and Frontrunners athlete Heather Wurtele was the overall womens winnner.
The weather broke just in time for the 8th Annual Edge to Edge Marathon this past weekend in Tofino. The rain and wind which had forced participants back into their warm beds saturday morning had subsided by race day and the weather offered an almost perfect morning for distance running.
This weekend saw runners and triathletes in action in the Mt Doug Gutbuster and the Panorama Classic Triathlon as well as Frontrunners, Katie Nelson, in action at the BC High School Track and Field Championships in Burnaby.
Athletes from 10 countries around the world will be facing off in a two-hour track and field showdown at the 19th annual Victoria International Track Classicon June 6, 2007. Local stars, Diane Cummins and Gary Reed will try to retain their titles from last year against a strong contingent of international and national athletes.
The beautiful weather today made for a great start to Bike to Work Week Victoria. There are over 1500 riders taking part this year as well as hundreds of other non-registered riders which is great to see. Both Nick and I have decided to park our cars for the week and ride to work from Oak Bay.
