The New Balance Half-Iron took place this weekend at Elk/Beaver Lake. This year saw almost 600 participants take part in the 8th year of the event which also attracts hundreds of spectators who create a great atmosphere around the finish line/transition area. Jonathon Caron of Penticton won the mens race and Frontrunners athlete Heather Wurtele was the overall womens winnner.

The 8th annual NB Half-Ironman took place this weekend at Elk/Beaver Lake. There were almost 600 finishers this year and tons of spectators which created a great atmosphere around the transition area. Jonathon Caron of Penticton won the mens race and Frontrunners athlete Heater Wurtele was the overall womens winner.
Frontrunners clinic member, Lance Hurrell, tackled his first half-ironman triathlon after taking the sport up just over a year ago. Lance moved up steadily throughout the race and finished in 293rd overall out of 588 finishers in a time of 5:25:49. Congratulations Lance!
The New Balance Half-Ironman consisted of a 2km open water swim, 80km bike ride in the Saanich Peninsula, and a 20km run around Elk/Beaver Lake
